Litigation Tactics to Make the System Move

Erica Olmstead will serve as co-moderator of the session “Litigation Tactics to Make the System Move” at the March 2026 Canadian Bar Association – BC Legal Conference: Immigration Law 2026

The session addresses a critical reality of administrative law practice: a client’s need for status does not pause when a file is delayed or refused. The workshop will explore recent case law affecting Mandamus applications and the shifting standards applied in judicial reviews of refusals.

Participants will collaborate on practical litigation strategies, from identifying strong grounds for review to anticipating and responding effectively to government positions.
