An immigrant herself, she moved from Brazil as a teenager, worked as a Policy Analyst in the Canadian public sector, and interned at the East and Horn of Africa Human Rights Defenders Project in Kampala, Uganda. Fernanda has also been actively involved with the Canadian non-profit sector while acting as a Director at the Canadian Centre for the Responsibility to Protect (CCR2P) and Threading Change.
